What is a breakfast table? The term breakfast table practically means a table where a family sits and has their breakfast. It is certainly unusual to have a term named after the first meal of the day.
Nathaniel Hawthorne, an American writer said that life, within doors, has few pleasanter prospects than a neatly arranged and well-provisioned breakfast table. Why did she compare life with a breakfast table?
Different individuals around the globe have different interpretation about breakfast tables. Living in Asia for over 10 years, have taught me a lot about Asian culture and customs. Chinese usually have their meals including breakfast at a round table. Take a stroll around the streets of China or Singapore and you will notice that most coffee shops have marble round tables. For Japanese, a quick breakfast at home is necessary before getting the day started. In India, breakfast is like a time of laughter in most family. However, for the modern generation, skipping breakfast is like a norm.
Being a global citizen, my family and I have breakfast at different time of the day depending on what time we are awake and we don’t have a breakfast table.

A breakfast table is indeed necessary in every family whether it is a Western or Eastern family. It symbolizes the unity and togetherness of the family every morning. A breakfast table can be small but it represents sharing and caring in the family.
Can’t find a place for an extra table, get a table and call it breakfast table. On whether my kitchen will be, furnish with a breakfast table that depends on my family after all.
